Richard Spurdens AFIAP DPAGB

I’m a photographer based between Leeds and Bradford in West Yorkshire in the UK. I enjoy the challenges of most forms and genres of photography, but of late I am specialising more in portraiture, fine art and fine art nude imagery.
I enjoy working together with my selected model to try and create a strong image; often shot against a blank canvas so that I can then look at adding a texture to it using Photoshop to create a unique image. Absolutely all the images that you see on this site were photographed and edited by me.
I have always striven to improve my work and over the last couple of years I have gained a number of distinction letters after my name. Does this make me a better photographer than anyone else? The answer is no, I still make mistakes, but often making mistakes is where the learning comes from.
In 2010 I started to enter my images into National and International salons around the world, and last year I gained my AFIAP [Artist FIAP]. Currently I have gained 282 acceptances with 55 different images in 30 different countries around the world, so hopefully my EFIAP [Excellence FIAP] will be achieved in 2012.
To date, my work has been published in a number of magazines and I have had work featured in group exhibitions [salons] both in the UK and around the world. Several of my images have been awarded Gold medals in these salons which is always very pleasing.
Form time to time I post images on a number of different image sharing websites 1X.com, 500px and ephotozine, On these sites you can reach like-minded photographers and learn from their work and from feedback too. However on this site you will find what I feel is my best work, and also my latest work via my Blog page.
I have recently become a member of the Gamma Photoforum, a small select group of photographers dedicated to providing inspiration for the committed photographer.
Thanks for your visit - I hope you like what you see.
