A few images from a walk-about shoot in Birmingham city center. Featuring Hamish WJ Scott a professional dancer and model from Birmingham. I have worked with Hamish a number of times in the past and you can see some of my dance images featuring him in my Dance Portfolio.

The styling theme for the shoot was a Peaky Blinder look which suited the locations we were shooting in very well. However with the temperatures in the high twenties that day. The choice of wearing a heavy jacket, cap and a tweed suite was not the easiest of tasks for the Hamish.

May 2021 Print of the Month

My pick for the May 2021 Print of the Month is entitled: Leap of Faith

For this print of the month I chose to work up an image from a studio shoot with the Ballerina and model Jade Wallace.

Shot using a single studio flash fitted with a large softbox

Images from a remote shoot with Poppyseed dancer

Here are a few images from a remote shoot with Poppyseed Dancer. Poppyseed was in Denmark and I was at home in the UK. The set up for the shoot used a similar format to my other recent posts on remote shooting. (Zoi) and (Riona).

The whole shoot done via the internet. For this particulare shoot the camera we used was a Canon 1DX Mk II. Which mounted on a sturdy tripod held it steady. The camera connected to the laptop via a tethering cable. On the laptop was the Canons EOS Utility 3 software. This software gives you a Live view, of the scene the camera was seeing on the screen. Via which you can then choose a point of focus on your subject via your mouse. You also have a large button which when clicked activates the camera and takes the image. The laptop screen connected via Chrome ‘remote desktop’ to my home PC. So I could see the live view and take the images.

With a seperate voice and video connection using Whatsapp. Which allows you to discuss and direct the model during the session.

The setup for this session worked well. The only one issue was that we lost connection on WhatsApp for a very short while.

Poppyseed had hired an appartement of the shoot. Which gave some good location to shoot in and some nice natural window light for some of the shots. We also used a couple of studio lights for a corridor shot.

Having worked with Poppyseed once before when she was visiting the UK. I knew I would get some great dance and yoga shapes. As you can see from the images below.

Natural light images from the remote shoot with Poppyseed Dancer

These were all shot using the natural light coming in from the window

As you can see Poppy can really create some great dance shapes and poses as she worked on pointe.

Thanks again to Poppyseed and Kelly who assisted with the shoot. More images to come but thought I would share these as a starter.

Interested in what you think.

Kayleigh Lush

The last time I worked with Model and dancer Kayleigh Lush was in August 2012 when I was working at the Para-Olympics in London and with a day off  I  arrange to shoot with Kayleigh. She is certain a great model and dancer. I am still working with and processing images from that shoot, as we seemed to produced so many good ones. So quite why I had left it so long to book to work with her again, I am not sure, but when another few day together can about during a visit to London, I decided it was time to see if I could work with here again.

I used the same studio location as I usually use when in down there and that is the studio run by Adrian Pini .( as I have mentioned in my post First shoot of the year) it a studio close to where I am usually base, and Adrian is a good owner and helpful if you need an assistant.

So here are a few of the images that we produced on the day, Kayleigh was a star again and produced some great shapes and moves.

So thanks again to Kayleigh she works so hard to produce great dance shapes and has great athleticism.

I will be booking her again soon.
