Denisa Strakova – NSFW

Denisa Strakova is a fashion and art model based in Czechia. During her recent tour of the UK, she was in the my area. The chance to work with her was not to be missed. Denisa was really great to work with and we created some great expression and shapes. I would certainly work with her again if the chance arose.

Photography

Riona – Natural Light – NSFW.

A set of natural light images featuring Riona. These were all shot using the The Fujifilm GF110 F2 lens. This is certainly a great portrait lens. As you can see from the images below the image quality is where this lens stands out. It renders the images sharp from wide open and delivers a calm beautiful bokeh that is not a distraction. Instead the out of focus areas support the image with great, neutral, subject separation.

The light in the room was coming from a velux window in the roof which gave some really nice soft natural light for theses shots

Minh-Ly

Minh-Ly is a full-time professional model with Asian roots. Well known for her versatility, expressive range of poses, and collaborative spirit. I had the chance to work with her while she was touring in the UK. Minh-Ly works across genres, from portrait to fine-art nude, and specialise in emotionally resonant, visually striking imagery. As you can see from the images below.

The range of images shown below feature different lighting choices. The rooms natural light was the light source for in Images 1 ,4 and 7. The setup used in the other images was a studio flash head, fitted with a rectangular soft box. Fitted to this was a grid to control the light spill.

Mimi Deskua -NSFW

Mimi Deskua is a fine art model based in Geneva, Switzerland. She was in the area so we arranged to work together at my local studio Silkwood.

I wanted a simple lighting set up that gave soft transistion across the model. I placed a medium octa fitted with a grid to control the spread of the light. This was placed to the right hand side of the model and feathered it away from the background. This gave me seperation between the model and background. By moving around the set different view points gave a slightly different mood for the set of images. But the position the light did not change.

The images were all shot in monochrome with the fuji film ARCOS + G filter film setting.

Mimi Deskua was good to work with and I was pleased with the results we created.

EmiLi – NSFW

Emili is a Bristol based model who was visiting Leeds. I took the oportunity to work with her at my local studio Silkwood. I choose a simple studio lighting set up for most of the sets with a rectanglar soft box fitted with a grid to direct the light being the setup for the first few images

I like deep and moody shadows – shadows that carried tension. So by using a soft but directional light, it allowed me to keep the environment honest, and draw the eye to expression, posture, and intent.

Lighting for the images below was a gridded large octa placed in front and to the left hand side of the subject. I then featherd it across the scene to keep it off the background. The deeper shades and light angle sculptured the body nicely.

Regina Piil – NSFW

Regina Piil is a Danish full-time traveling model. I spotted she was at Basford studio so a chance to work with her was not to be missed. It was only a short session but we covered a few different locations using the natural window light. Regina was a pleasure to create with and with lots of strong sunlight coming in through the windows. I exposed for the highlights, and then processed the images for the shadows. Which I think suited the images.

Miss C – November Shoot

A November visit to Staffordshire gave a chance to shoot with Miss C. Owner and resident model of the luxury photographic venue, Basford Hurst Cottage. I had visited the studio previously to work with a visiting model. So I had a feel for the location and also the opportuntiy to create with Miss C, was not to be missed.

It was a typical November day so wet and dark, which sort of set the mood for the shoot. I went for a simple lighting setup using an Elinchrom One and used two different light shapers durin the shoot.

I wanted shadows you could almost feel — shadows that carried tension, Soft but directional light allowed me to: Keep the environment honest, draw the eye to expression, posture, and intent.

Maryna Sedin

Maryna Sedin is a Ukrainian model, who is based in London. When she was in my area, I arranged to work with her at my local studio. She is a tall fashion model and can create some great fashion shapes and looks. This is one set from a studio shoot with her. For me the dress and her poses stood out well for me as a fashion set of images.

Eowyn Luna is a Manchester based model. I have not created with her before so it was a good to get to work with her in the studio. Here is a selection of some of my favourite images from the session which featured both Studio Flash lighting and some Natural light too.
